Foundation Role

Hello. I am honored to be the President of the OC Trail Tales Foundation for a 2 year term commencing September 2013. This is my first experience as a Board Member of an organization. This endeavor is particularly exciting and challenging for me as we are in the start-up phase.

My role as President is to lead the foundation to realize its goals by transforming our philanthropic aspirations into actions and tangible outcomes. The Foundation board members, and OC Trail Tales members alike, are extremely goal oriented. I have witnessed our members conquer physical challenges they never thought possible. My challenge is to focus that same energy, dedication, and enthusiasm towards our philanthropic goals so that we can make a positive difference for people in need, animals in need, and the environment.

Professional Background

I am a Finance and Accounting professional with 25 years of work experience. My work experience includes some familiar companies such as Sony Electronics, eMachines computers (purchased by Gateway), and Henkel for the past 10 years (maker of Dial, Purex, and Loctite products, just to name a few).

Hobbies and Interests

My hobbies and interests include swimming, cycling, and running. Put ‘em all together (in that order) and it’s a triathlon. So there you have my next major goal; Ironman Arizona in November 2014. Every athletic endeavor I do now is leading up to this event.

When I am not training, I like to participate in some occasional track days where I run my 1995 Camaro Z28 for fun.

Finally, I hope to round out my diversity of activities with philanthropic endeavors. I feel so fortunate to have good friends and good health, but I have an unfulfilled desire to pay it forward by helping others. Through the OC Trail Tales Foundation, I hope fulfill that desire.

Where I Grew Up

I grew up in West Orange New Jersey. I graduated from Penn State University in State College, PA and then returned to NJ to live in Parsippany. I moved to Overland Park, Kansas in 1996 where I was fortunate enough to meet my wife Marcy. Together, we moved to Redondo Beach, California in 1999 and then moved to Irvine, California in 2002 where we continue to reside.

How long in OC Trail Tales

I joined OC Trail Tales in May 2012, shortly after I finished the OC Half Marathon, my first such event. Since joining OC Trail Tales I have had so many experiences I never thought possible. These include completing my first 100k trail run, my first sprint triathlon, and probably one of the most amazing experiences of my life; running the Grand Canyon R2R2R (south rim to north rim through the canyon and back to the south rim, all in one day) in May 2013. Stay tuned, there is way more to come...or, just join OC Trail Tales to join the fun.
