Directions

From North OC:
  1. On I-5, head south towards San Diego.
  2. Take the El Toro Rd Exit.
  3. Turn left onto Avenida De La Carlota.
  4. Road Runner Sports will be on your right.

From South OC:
  1. On I-5, head north towards Los Angeles.
  2. Take the El Toro Rd Exit.
  3. Turn left onto El Toro Rd.
  4. Take the 1st left onto Avenida De La Carlota.
  5. Road Runner Sports will be on your right.

The course is under final review but here is the current proposed route for the 5k.

5:30pm Registration and packet pick up opens.
6:15pm Registration closes.
6:30pm 5K starts.
7:30pm Awards ceremony

Frequently Asked Questions

If I'm unable to attend the race due to health condition or unforseen circumstance can I get a refund?
Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Can I defer my entry to another race?
At this time, we are not allowing deferals.
Can I transfer my race to another participant?
Race registrations are non-transferrable.
Can I register on race day?
Yes. On site registration will be open until 10 minutes before the race starts.
What is the minimum age requirment for the race?
There are no age restrictions for this event.
Is this race walker friendly?
The 5K is open to both walkers and runners
Are strollers allowed?
Yes. Strollers and baby joggers are allowed but must start in the back of the field to avoid accidental collisions with others.
Are bikes, inline stakes, skateboards or dogs allowed on the course?
No.  Only service dogs are allowed on the course.
Can I use my Smartphone, MP3 player or other headphone device?
Headphones can be used but should be set so you can hear volunteers and other participants.
Will the race be canceled/postponed due to weather?
The race will be held rain or shine, except in the case of lightning.
Will there be gear check available for this race?
No
Where do I pick up my race packet?
You must pick up your packet before the race at Road Runner Sports.
Do I need to bring anything with me to packet packet pick-up?
To pick up your race packet, you must bring a photo ID.
Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
Yes. If you wish to have someone else pick up your packet, the individual picking up on your behalf will need to have a copy of the participant's photo id.
Will the race be timed?
Yes.
Where can I find my race results?
Race results will be posted within 48 hours on www.octrailtalesfoundation.org.
Will there be awards for the top finishers?
Yes. Awards will be given out for the top 3 overall men and women only.
Will there be road closures?
No but please plan to arrive early to ensure you have enough time to park, pick up your bib and goodie bag and warm up properly before the race begins at 6:30pm.
Where are spectators allowed to watch the race?
Spectators are welcome at the start and finish as well as along the course.
