Foundation Role

I feel fortunate to serve as Vice President of Development. This is my first experience with a non-profit organization, and what a great opportunity to be here right at the beginning! My role for a two-year term is to oversee daily operations and provide leadership to the events, merchandise, corporate giving, stewardship and annual giving teams.

Professional Background

I made a huge career change in 2001 – I left the world of animal training and landed in the financial services industry. For the last 10 years I’ve been at Capital Bank and Trust Company, a subsidiary The Capital Group - of one the largest investment management firms in the world. I am part of CB&T's risk management team as a business analyst, and serve many functions including internal and external audit and regulatory exam coordination and management, risk assessments, vendor management and project work.

Where I Grew Up

I grew up in Old Saybrook, CT. I went to college in southern Florida and after 3 semesters I realized I was not on the path I wanted to take. I moved back home for a short time, then returned to Florida to strike out on my own. Years later, work took me to San Diego, and then love took me to Orange County where I married mine on a snowy mountain top on leap-year day in 2008! We currently live in Rancho Santa Margarita with our 5 year old boxer-mix rescue pups, Neva and Isabella.

How long in OC Trail Tales

I joined OCTT in July 2013. I had some running and swimming experience, and my husband surprised me with a road bike earlier in the year – not surprisingly, I was interested in triathlons but had no experience with training and had been looking for help. A good friend had been a trail running member for quite some time and finally convinced me to come to a Monday night social run at Road Runner. Best decision ever! I’ve had the pleasure of learning from and training with this terrific group of people. I completed my first sprint-distance triathlon in September 2013 with the team and what a fantastic experience – race day energy, team support, and FUN! I’m now preparing for more firsts in 2014 – Olympic and half-ironman distances (gulp)! Time will tell if I decide to go further than that, but as they say… it’s not all about the goal, it’s the journey and I’m happy to be on it with good people!

Hobbies and Interests

I grew up running, and still do although I think it’s turned into my weakest sport! I’m spending most of my time now running, swimming or biking. During winter months, snowboarding is another passion. We don’t get to do that as much as we would like to, but we still consider Mammoth Lakes, CA a ‘home away from home’. Two years ago we got to take the trip of a lifetime to Cordova, AK for a week of heli-skiing in the Chugach Mountains. I was proud to be part of a very small minority of snowboarders in the group and experienced the most amazing, seemingly endless terrain I’ve ever seen amongst breathtaking mountains and glaciers. We also belong to a dog-adventure group and bring our girls out to walk and socialize with other dogs as often as we can.
